Camping at Staircase

August 24-26, 2017
We went camping at Staircase Campground in the Olympic National Forest. We lucked out getting the biggest/best campsites right next to the river. Mindy and her kids joined us as well as Hannah, Taylor and baby Alice for the two nights of camping. Rebecca & Bart and their girls joined us for the day on Friday while getting to enjoy the "fun" of camping without the uncomfortable sleeping part that comes with it.

We weren't sure how Lincoln would do as he is crawling and not walking, but he managed pretty well and ended up in the stroller a good amount of the time as well. We made him a nice little bed in the trunk of the van and that helped us all get a little more sleep than we would have :).

Jaden found the "perfect" place for his tent, unfortunately he ended up having to move it to a new location.

Matthew and Sydney decided to go on their own adventure (without permission) and ended up way out of site and sound of the rest of the group. They followed the river for a long ways looking for a good place to cross, and then followed the river back to where we were all waiting for their return. They ended up with some very wet shoes and pants and had to "earn back" their chance for a little bit of freedom. Matthew got tethered to a tree and Sydney had to take a break from everyone in the van.

As we were camping over Garet's birthday - the Barney kids opened a few treats in honor of his birthday.

Lincoln is so fast!

the perfect swimming spot - someone had even made a "baby area" with rocks

Saturday morning... getting ready to pack up camp

The kids built a fort that they spent hours on.

Matthew and Sydney spent a lot of time making it just the way they wanted
