Spring Break 2010: Disneyland

Disneyland was great! We got there early enough to enjoy some of the rides before the crowds came. I think Matthew is scarred for life after going on the Pinocchio ride—he wouldn’t stop talking about how scary it was. We took the boys on Pirates and they did pretty well. Cameron got a little nervous when the boat went down, but other than that he was ok. He almost fell asleep because it was so dark. Matthew was pretty scared of all the characters. He liked to watch from far away, but didn't want to get close. We "made" him take a picture with Mickey Mouse and he wasn't too happy. Cameron wanted to grab Mickey's nose and so he was mad when I wouldn't let him. The boys did manage to fall asleep at the same time in their stroller long enough for Scott and I to go on Indiana Jones one after the other. If you are a single rider, you can bypass the line and practically get right on without waiting—thanks Ben for the tip.

Scott and I grabbed a fast pass for Space Mountain before heading back to my aunt’s to put the boys down for the night. It was great getting to go back with Scott at night and run around everywhere without having to worry about a stroller. I still can’t believe Scott talked me into going on Splash Mountain at 11pm—but hey, at least there wasn’t a long wait. It was a good one to end on since we were both too wet to want to do anything else.
Now I guess it is back to reality. What a fun week!!

Sping Break 2010: San Diego Zoo

On Wednesday we went to the San Diego Zoo. Matthew and Cameron loved seeing all of the animals. Matthew's highlights were being up close to an orangutan, raking dirt in the petting zoo, and the sea lion show. Cameron loved playing with the goats in the petting zoo and was really offended when they would ditch him.

Spring Break 2010: Oceanside

We stayed in a one bedroom rental we found for a great price on Craig’s List. We had a nice little kitchen and a patio with a BBQ. After checking in we headed to the pool. We had the pool to ourselves since it was a little overcast. It got a little cold so we went back and forth between the hot tub and the pool. Matthew loved the “warm pool.” Cameron wasn’t feeling the best which is super sad because he LOVES water, but he still managed to have a good time. As you can see (from the picture), he was chewing on his hand because he is teething. Poor kid.

The second day we went to the beach in the morning. Matthew and Cameron loved playing in the sand, and Cameron loved eating it—I’m starting to wonder if he’ll ever grow out of this. In the afternoon we went to the pool. Cameron took a nap on my lap while I sat by the pool reading a book and Matthew and Scott played in the water (going back and forth between the pool and the hot tub). It was great to relax and soak up the sun!

Spring Break 2010: Recap

Over Scott's spring break we got to go down to Southern California. Back in February we had heard about getting free tickets to Disneyland through giving service and took advantage by serving breakfast to the homeless in San Francisco. Since we had free tickets and wanted to go to Disneyland before Matthew turns 3 (and is no longer free) we thought it would be perfect to have a little family vacation in Southern California. We drove down Saturday and spent Saturday night and all day Sunday at my Aunt Teri’s house. On Monday we headed to Oceanside and stayed two nights at a vacation rental where we enjoyed swimming, bbq and the beach. Then on Wednesday we went to the San Diego Zoo and then drove back to my Aunt Teri’s where we spent the night. Wednesday night Matthew gave us a little surprise by throwing up. We weren’t really sure what to do since we had planned on going to Disneyland the next day. In the morning he seemed fine, so we went to Disneyland and had a blast. The boys had a great time other than having to wait their turn in line. After such a busy week the boys were exhausted, so we left Disneyland around dinner time, put them to bed at my aunt’s house and Scott and I went back to enjoy all of the big rides like Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Splash Mountain. We figured we better take advantage since the park didn’t close until midnight. Thanks Aunt Teri for watching the boys! And then we drove home on Friday. What a fun week!

Supposed to be sleeping...

Matthew and Cameron are such great partners in crime. Matthew sneaks out of bed to get the toothpaste and shares it with Cameron who makes a complete mess of himself and his bed.

gag-it

The word Cameron has been saying over and over and I finally figured out what it means... cracker. Who would have guessed?

Fort Scott: Battery Godfrey

There are so many fun places to explore in San Francisco. One afternoon we decided to take the kids and and explore Fort Scott: Battery Godfrey. The kids loved running around, climbing and exploring and we only got nervous a few times that they were going to fall off the edge :)

Above: And Cameron managed to walk right into a puddle.
