Family Photo Flop

I really wanted to to do family photos this year and I thought I found the perfect place to take them. Next to Scott's work there are some really big trees with lots of leaves, but we were running out of time before all the leaves would be on the ground and not in the trees and rain was on the forecast soon. We tried to find coordinating clothes, but sometimes they just don't look quite as good as you pictured when you actually try them on. I practiced where everyone would stand so that we could just snap the picture quick. We decided we could squeeze it in on Monday right after Scott's work. He came home to get us as fast as he could, then we loaded up in the van to go back to his work. We decided to bring stuff to do hair at his office so we wouldn't have to worry about it getting messed up in the car ride. Well, when we took the van, Scott switched to his other set of keys and left the work keys at home, so we couldn't get into his office. Luckily the library was next to his work, so we took turns taking the kids in to the bathroom to do their hair. It was a little tricky and wasted a fair amount of time. We also hadn't counted on some of the offices still working and being able to look out their big windows at us. The kids were running around crazy, it was like herding cats and we were losing sun by the second. Also the beautiful tree I had thought would be so amazing was facing the wrong direction with where the sun was, so it was just all not going to plan.

Let's just face it, it's hard to take your own family photos when you have five kids (especially when one is a toddler). We managed to get a few shots and one were were able to use for our Christmas card. This went down in history as our WORST family photo experience and I hope I never have to relive a photo session like that one again.

Great Wolf Lodge - Grand Mound, WA

October 12-13, 2017

We went to Great Wolf Lodge - an indoor water park and hotel with our family of seven. Because it was close to Halloween, all the kids got orange wolf ears.
