Sutro Baths with Aunt Miriam and Grandma

10.15.2010

A typical day by the water... cold, windy, and foggy!

It was so nice of Grandma to carry Cameron up the huge flight of stairs.
And we stopped by McDonald's on the way home.
Thanks again for the fun visit!

Zeum with Grandma and Aunt Miriam

My sister Miriam had a few days off school, so my mom and her decided to come and spend some of the time with us. It was so fun having them come visit.

While they were here, we went to the Zeum for the first time.

They tried on costumes...

Put on a puppet show...

Sung karaoke...
... to Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. It was actually pretty cute. Cameron got pretty attached to his microphone, and loved putting it really close/in his mouth.

And then Aunt Miriam took a turn. This picture shows the other half of the room.

Played with some clay...

And went on the carousal (thanks Grandma).

What a fun afternoon!

Stats

Cameron had his two year check-up this week (a month late). When I told Matthew we were going to ride the shuttle to the doctor, the first thing he asked me was if it was for him or Cameron. When I told him it was for Cameron, Matthew was very relieved. It is funny their fear of the doctor (or shots) at a young age. The kids loved the shuttle ride to the doctor and brought along their little backpacks with toys and snacks. All was good until we got into the doctor's office and Cameron had to take off his shoes to get his height. He started getting nervous--then he was ok until we were in the room and I started taking his shirt off. He freaked out again. Well, I got him calmed down and he and Matthew colored with chalk and ran around. But the second the door opened and the doctor walked in, Cameron started crying and ran to me to hold him. Most moms would probably feel bad for their kids--I guess I'm not like that. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but when you see the kind of crazy things they do running around getting hurt and not caring and then a doctor walks in (not even touching him) and he starts crying and grabbing for me to hold him--I just want to laugh. I ended up talking to the doctor over his crying and he somewhat calmed down.

Eventually he had to have a shot, but guess what, he only cried for two seconds and then wouldn’t stop talking about his sticker. Seriously he cried more when the doctor walked in the door than he did for his shot. Crazy kid.

Now, looking at Matthew and Cameron… Cameron is the big little brother and Matthew is the older “twig” boy. The doctor could not stop talking about how big Cameron was (relative to Matthew) and about how he is going to catch up. Just for curiosity, I pulled up Matthew’s two year stats… why don’t you take a look…

Matthew (2 years)
height: 34 inches
weight: 28.1 pounds

Cameron (2 years)
height: 33.5 inches
weight: 28.6 pounds

Look at that! Isn't it funny that Matthew (my preemie) and Cameron (full term) were pretty much exactly the same at two years (give or take a half inch or pound)? You wonder why the doctor was making such a BIG DEAL about how big Cameron is compared to Matthew. And who knows, maybe in the next year Cameron will thin out and be like Matthew? I guess time will tell.

And here are Matthew’s current stats just for the record:

Matthew (3 years, 5 months)
height: 39 inches
weight: 33.7 pounds

And since this would be a lot more interesting with a few pictures…

Here is Matthew (age 2) and Cameron (age 2)

This morning...

This morning we woke up to this:

Well, I guess that’s not completely accurate. When we heard Matthew come over and close our bedroom door, we knew he was up to something, but I guess I was just too lazy to care at the time. Since Matthew can’t get Cameron out of his crib and Cameron hasn’t figured out how to climb out (thank goodness), I guess Matthew resorted to pushing Cameron’s crib out into the living room. He then proceeded to get out their snacks and sippy cups.

I would take this any morning over them waking us up early.

And another recent shot:

I love it when I find these two entertaining themselves... and playing nicely together!

Utah Trip: The Rest

We got to stay at my Aunt Lisa's house in Midway, Utah and had a great time. It was fun that two of my siblings and three of Scott's siblings came to visit us while we were in town.
Above: My sister Hannah, Cameron, Stephen (Hannah's friend), Matthew and Madi (my cousin) playing with fake food.
Above: Can you tell Matthew is soaking up the attention?
Above: James, Rebekah and Emerson came to join the fun too!
Above: Scott taking Matthew and Campbell (my cousin) for a ride
Above: Hadley, Campbell, and Matthew--don't you love Matthew's pink helmet? I guess even pink will keep you safe.
Above: Even Cameron wanted to join in on the four-wheeler fun. Although it took him a while to get used to the loud noise.

Every time I turned around Cameron was asking someone to go jump on the trampoline with him. He is my little jumper!

What a fun vacation! Thanks Aunt Lisa for letting us come and invade your home :)
