conversation of the day

Today, I had a conversation with Matthew while driving in the car and it went something like this:

Matthew: Mommy, Only boys go to school
Me: Why is that?
Matthew: Because Daddy goes to school
Me: Can I go to school?
Matthew: No, because you don't wear braces. Only big boys wear braces.

It's funny what kids come up with

Matthew turns 3

Scott had the morning off, so we decided to go to Daly City's Party Playhouse...

We had icecream cones after lunch...

Matthew opened some presents and enjoyed playing with them...

And he practiced holding up 3 fingers... it takes a lot of concentration
And of course we ate cake...

quick trip to Granite Bay

4.28.2010

My sister Rebekah and her husband James and son Emerson came to my parents for a week. Since they hadn’t planned to be there over the weekend, I decided to take Matthew and Cameron and go visit while Scott was in school. Anyone that knows me, knows I hate driving—but I did it and I’m glad.

My brother Daniel had a track meet, so we went and watched him. The weather was a bit crazy all day with on and off rain, and we were afriad it might get canceled, but luckily it cleared up.

Above: Rebekah, baby Emerson and James

Above: Daniel pole vaulting--pretty impressive to watch!
Above: James did pole vaulting back in the day and got special permission to go out on the field and be Daniel's personal trainer

Above: Look at Daniel in the lead--I thought it was pretty cool that he is completely in the air in this shot

Land's End Hike

4.24.2010
A few weekends back we went to Land's End to enjoy the beautiful weather, scenery and to be outdoors. Matthew and Cameron loved all the sticks, dirt, etc. and only made us nervous a few times.

Hard to believe it's already been a little over a year since the last time we went.

Mother's Day

The morning started off with a delicious breakfast...

Matthew and Cameron made me some cute cards at church...

And then Matthew cooked me dinner...

Thanks for such a wonderful Mother's Day!

Have you ever...

played mahjong using actual tiles? Well, for date night tonight we thought we would try it out since we actually own the game—compliments of Scott serving a mission in Hong Kong. It was fun, but made for very tedious set up--especially because we kept getting stuck before getting all of the matches.

my other pair of eyes

“Mom, Cameron’s putting wipes in the potty” Matthew tells me as I am making lunch. Sure enough, as I enter the bathroom I see Cameron playing with wipes in the toilet water. Wow, am I getting sloppy or what—I left the wipes in Cameron’s reach AND I let Cameron get out of my view. Looks like I’m going to have to be more careful. It’s been a bit rough ever since Cameron figured out how to open doors—especially because there is no way to lock our bathroom door when no one is inside.
I guess it is helpful to have a tattle-tale in the house. I’m sure one day it will become annoying, but for now it is actually quite helpful. Thanks Matthew for being my other pair of eyes.
