Touring San Francisco

Scott's sister Melissa came to visit us from Utah. Although I have grown up in the bay area, I have never been the one showing anyone around San Francisco--my mom always did that. So this was my first opportunity to plan all the touristy things to do. We went to Pier 39, Lombard Street, Stinson Beach, Golden Gate Park, and Golden Gate Bridge. We had a lot of fun.

San Francisco

Moving to San Francisco was a bit of an adventure. Because most of our belongings were in my parent’s garage (stored away for the past year) it made most sense to take everything to my parent’s house and move to SF from there. We rented a 14 foot U-Haul to make the 55 mile trek. Scott drove the U-Haul and I followed him with Matthew in the car. I really don’t like driving and I especially don’t like driving in new places, across bridges, in busy cities and one-way streets. So I was really nervous and had been dreading this experience for the past two weeks. After making a few wrong turns, passing through several yellow lights and lots of hills we made it to our new apartment. Scott and 3 other guys from school unloaded the truck while I watched Matthew. Matthew was not the most cooperative—in fact he cried almost the whole time, I am not sure if it was because he wanted to be held the whole time (and I am not supposed to) or because he was still recovering from his hernia operation. Hopefully this constant crying and whining will go away soon. (I guess I am lucky that this is not normal behavior, because I am sure some moms deal with a whining/crying baby 24/7.)

Hopefully I will be able to adjust to city life fairly soon—although I don’t know if I will ever be comfortable parallel parking on a hill (did I mention that our assigned parking spot is parallel parking on a hill?) Oh, and there is no parking lot at church—so Scott dropped off Matthew and me and circled around until he found street parking. I am not really sure why anyone would want to live in a big city.
