a long awaited get together

1.29.2013
Ever since we moved to Washington I've wanted to get together with Jenny (her husband graduated dental school 2 years before Scott and they have been living in Seattle area while he goes to school to become an oral surgeon--and they are moving to Canada after he graduates in June). Well, we finally got together at the Olympia Children's Museum (thanks Jenny for making the drive down to us). The boys had a blast. So fun we both have 3 boys (her oldest was at school).

Cannon & Matthew

our attempt at a kid picture... Cameron was NOT cooperating, so we took it without him
Brandon (2), Matthew (5), Hudson (2), Cannon (4)

Brandon (2) & Hudson (2)
I think there is a four month gap... Brandon is so tiny!

blog chain letter

so I'm not usually in to this kind of thing, but I guess this time I will play along, just for you Jen.

The Rules
1. Post 11 random things about myself.
2. Answer the 11 questions my nominator asked me.
3. Create 11 questions for my own nominees.
4. Nominate 11 different bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.
5. Tell them they have to play along.

11 Random things about myself

1. I was born in the car (parked in the hospital parking lot)

2. I stepped on a hot dog roaster with bare feet by a fire pit (on accident) and got a nice burn

3. I stepped on a snail with my bare feet and squished it (on purpose)

4. I’ve been to Hong Kong, Thailand and the Philippians

5. I like to be social and have found that having a child in half day kindergarten is completely limiting my social activities… can’t wait to have a half day kindergartener and a full day kid… ha ha

6. I’ve had two preemies (weighing less than 3 pounds each) and a full term baby in between

7. I’ve lived in California, Utah and Washington State

8. I don’t like doing things/going places for the first time because I don’t know what to expect… which leads me to number 9

9. I have a really hard time “going with the flow” I like everything planned out and want to know exactly what is going to happen when, where, and what I should bring.

10. I like to take pictures and often find myself planning activities around when there will be good lighting (and get frustrated when I can’t make that happen)

11. I majored in Math Education, but I am horrible at doing math in my head

11 questions from my nominator:

1. What is your favorite book? As a child it was From the Mixed up Files ofMrs Basil E Frankweiler, in High School it was To Kill A Mockingbird (because I could use it for any AP English question), and a more recent read I enjoyed – The Help.

2. What are your top three biggest pet peeves?
Number one: when someone says they are going to do something and then they don’t. Number two: when kids get sick… it seems to usually happen at the worst times—like when you are on vacation. Number three: right now, whiny children.

3. What is your favorite type of music? I don’t really listen to music when I’m by myself… whatever Scott likes or kid songs when I’m with my kids.

4. What time of day were you born?
In the night I think

5. What time of day were your kids born?
Matthew – 1:55am, Cameron – 8:01 am, Brandon – 6:49 pm

6. What is your favorite lazy day activity?
(By myself) – reading blogs (unless they tell you to do some blog chain letter and then you feel bad if you don’t participate)/pinterest/browsing the internet or playing with my camera/learning more about photography

7. What is your favorite season? (if you say winter, we are no longer friends).
Guess I better not say winter—I would say any season where it is warm and not raining—which depending on where you live could sort of be any season.

8. What is your favorite movie genre?
I like action movies that have an underlying romance in it—for example, The Bourne Series

9. If this was your last day on Earth, what would you do?
Spend time with my family

10. What is your favorite type of cuisine?
American Chinese?

11. How long did it take you to blog this?
approx. 1 day 10 hours and 22 minutes

11 questions for my nominees:

1. Did you know all of my 11 random facts? which #'s didn't you know?
2. What is your favorite candy bar?
3. What is your favorite meal/dinner?
4. What is your favorite dessert?
5. What do you like to do in your “free” time (let’s assume you had some)?
6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
7. What is your least favorite household chore?
8. What is your favorite book and why?
9. Do you own a smart phone? And for how long?
10. What is your biggest pet peeve?
11. How long did it take you to blog this?

I nominate…
2. Hannah
3. April
7. Megan
10. Carrissa
11. Bea

Brandon's 2nd Birthday

1.20.2013
We let Brandon open some legos before church--good thing he is so good at sharing...

Then in the evening he opened the rest of his presents and had cake.

Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Flinders for the the book!

Happy Birthday Brandon!

party time

1.19.2013
We got together at Rebecca's house to celebrate Sadie's 6th birthday and Brandon's 2nd. The cousins had a great time and even did a play/dance/singing performance that seemed to never end. Good thing I had my camera to entertain me--there is always so much to learn/practice and the kids just thought I was paying attention to them/taking pictures.

Sorry mom/dad/aunts/uncles pretty sure we made you sit through some pretty long performances growing up... possibly a never ending puppet show over Thanksgiving one year in which you guys clapped multiple times saying good job/are you done yet?...

 Ruby...

 Paige...

Matthew playing on Scott's Ipod--not sure why we ever started that

 Sadie & Matthew

 Emma & Sydney

 Matthew being goofy...
what do you think of his new glasses-can't remember if I ever mentioned Brandon broke his last pair...
not sure if it is just the angle, but I think they are magnifying his eyes...

Bean bag toss...

Brandon showing off his new fuzzy slippers and a drum from Grandma & Grandpa Crane

And we had to play the orange game
(you know, the one where you use your nose to push it past the line)
here's last year

Fun times!

outside

We have finally started going outside again. I guess Cameron decided he had stared at his new "motorcycle" long enough that it was time to try it out.
